temporal mo*rning
Temporal Mo*rning, 2020
silk organza dyed with calendula and cornflower, embroidery thread, acrylic paint, vintage lace ribbon, wax crayon
A dos-á-dos book that can be opened into a wearable veil. Due to the pandemic, I was unable to be present for my father’s passing and planted calendula and cornflower in his honor instead. I harvested the flowers to create a natural dye and constructed a “mo*rning” veil — speaking to the taboo nature of grief, wanting to be seen/unseen, and the inevitable day to day care while grieving.
